Pauline Dell "Polly" Walker

Pauline Walker Obituary

Born June 27, 1918, in Shiver Springs, S.C., to the late Jay Jaymes Dell and Leonora Wells Dell, Mrs. Walker was the past president of Del-Mark Inc. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension where she served as president of the Episcopal Church Women of the Western Diocese of North Carolina for several years. She also was a past member of the Vestry and Layperson. Mrs. Walker was a member of the Hickory Service League and was on the board of directors for the Flynn Christian Fellowship Home at its inception, as well as the Ada Geitner Home. Survivors include a sister, Susannah Dell Patton of Hickory; four sons, William B. (Bo) Walker III and wife, Frances, of Hickory, Jay D. Walker and wife, Judi, of Long Beach, Calif., Davis H. Walker and wife, Patricia, of Bethlehem and J. Wells Walker and wife, Lyn, of Hickory; six grandchildren, Beth Brown, William B. Walker IV, Jaymes C. Walker, Monica Dagenhardt, J. Clayton Walker and Randall Jaymes Walker; four great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at the Church of the Ascension. The Rev. Carla Woggon will officiate. Interment will be in the church garden. The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall. The family would like to give special thanks to Kingston Residence employees for their years of loving care and friendship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, N.C. 28658 or Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 726 First Ave., NW, Hickory, N.C. 28601. Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Pauline Dell Walker.
