August 8, 1957 - February 15, 2022
Randy Willis Lingerfelt, 64, of Hickory, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at Caldwell UNC Health Care in Lenoir.
He was born Aug. 8, 1957, in Catawba County, to Donald Ervin Lingerfelt of Hickory and Sue Willis Pittman of Hickory. Randy lived and breathed tree climbing and by all accounts he was the best in the business. He was an avid fisherman and captivating storyteller with an adventurous spirit, and he never met a stranger. Although he had his struggles in life, his family and friends know he was at peace coming down from that tree one last time.
Randy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carmie Marshall Willis and Lily Mae Newton Willis; and paternal grandparents, Keever Shuford Lingerfelt and Minnie Vernie Hull Lingerfelt.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Corey Lingerfelt of Greensboro and Jonathon Lingerfelt of Raleigh; daughter, Leigh Anne Lingerfelt of Hickory;
Father, Donald Ervin Lingerfelt of Hickory; mother, Sue Willis Pittman of Hickory; sisters, Michelle Cloninger and husband, Bruce of Conover, Scottie Houston and husband, Shawn of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Karsyn Walker and Parker Lingerfelt; and nephews, Hunter Houston (Taylor), Cole Houston and Luke Houston.
A memorial service to celebrate Randy's life will be held Monday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m., in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16 in Newton. The Rev. Neil Bowman will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Colony of Mercy Men's Campus, 1675 Bethel Colony Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645.

Randy did a lot of tree work for me and my son ( Jason ). He was a very well liked person. My condolences to all of his loved ones. He will be missed.
