Rebecca Hatchett Obituary

Rebecca M. Hatchett NEWTON Rebecca Moose Hatchett, 84, of Newton passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born Dec. 25, 1928, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey R. Moose and Sallie Hunsucker Moose. Becky was a devoted homemaker and an amazing mother. She was truly a woman of faith, who raised her family to love God and one another. She was a member of First Baptist Church, in Newton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 47 years, James P. Hatchett Jr.; two brothers, Aubrey R. Moose Jr. and Brady E. Moose; and two sisters, Evelyn I. Moose and Dorcas L. Moose. She is survived by four daughters, Kathy McSwain and husband, Chris, of Newton, Pam Stroud and husband, Kelly, of Hickory, Margaret Wilkes, of Iron Station; and the Rev. Joyce Bunn and husband, Dana, of Randleman; three sons, James Hatchett III and wife, Della, of Taylorsville, Tim Hatchett, of Newton and Chris Hatchett, of Newton; brother, Demps K. Moose, of Newton; sister, Rosemary M. Jones, of Sherrills Ford; 11 grandsons, Andrew, Jason, and Stephen Wilkes, Peter Stroud, Wilson and Martin Bunn, Jeremy, James, and Dalton Hatchett, Logan Hatchett and Bryson Christopher Lowdermilk; five granddaughters, Amber Hatchett, Madison Hatchett, Heather Branch, Rebecca McSwain and Amanda McSwain; and 12 great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m., at First Baptist Church, in Newton, with Pastor Tommy Hullette officiating. Burial will follow, in Eastview Cemetery, in Newton. The family will receive friends this evening (Tuesday, May 21), from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Burke Mortuary, in Newton. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, in Newton.
