Ruby S. Anthony

ROCKWELL - Ruby Eloise Shytle Anthony, 94, of Rockwell, passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at her residence. Ruby was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Lincoln County, Ga., the daughter of the late John Burgin Shytle and Georgia Ellen Bridges Shytle. Ruby was educated in Cleveland County schools and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell. Ruby had worked for Rockwell Casket Company, had been a teachers aide at Morgan School and retired from Fiber Industries. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Anthony, who died May 29, 1972; and sons, Mark Anthony, who died April 13, 2004, and Freddie M. Anthony, who died April 21, 1950. Survivors include son, Dennis R. Anthony and wife, Becky, of Hickory; daughter, Donna A. Benfield and husband, Wade, of Rockwell; grandchildren, Jon Anthony, Keri Anthony, Angela Bradley, Mark Anthony, Crystal Jenkins and Minita Lakatos; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, and the remainder of the time at the residence. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Craig Sigmon, pastor. Burial will follow in Ursinus United Church of Christ Cemetery, Rockwell.
