Ruby Tucker HICKORY Ruby "Gina" Tucker, 67, of Hickory, went home to be with our Lord to her everlasting life, on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at her home in her daughters arms. She is finally at peace after her courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Tucker was born August 8, 1943 in Wilmington, NC, and was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. She loved her church family so much, and admired and loved her pastor greatly. She had a God given gift of craftsmanship and made many unbelievable, beautiful things that will be cherished by many. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658; or Brett's Ride for Pediatric Cancer Research, 2425 N. Dear Julia, I knew Ruby for such a short time. We met when we were both receiving treatment in radiation at Frye. I always complimented her on her scarves and you brought me a hat which I am still wearing. Your mother was a light for all. Her courage and spirit were so strong that others simply loved her from the first meeting. I am sorry for your pain but know that she is smiling on us from Heaven. God bless you. Millie Adams

Dear Julia, my daughters (Amy and Angie) were friends with Gina in high school and beyond. I always thought highly of her. I had no idea you had lost her in December. Then to lose your dear Mother so closely following is more pain and sorrow than I can possibly comprehend. I pray God's presence will overshadow you in the dark and lonely days that follow. Cherish your memories, as that is something no one can ever take from you. I would like to talk to you sometime. Dee
