Shirley Ann Leonhardt Beasley, 82, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at Carolina Caring in Newton.
Born July 23, 1939, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Sylvanus Phillip Franklin Leonhardt and Virginia Elora White Leonhardt. An active member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, where she was involved with the Fallen Hero Ministry, she retired from Old Hickory Tannery.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Alfred Beasley, whom she married Oct. 15, 1961; and sister, Margie Saine.
Shirley is survived by sons, Steve and Wendy Beasley of Conover, Mike and Cindy Beasley of Hickory and Phillip and Lisa Beasley of Hawaii; brother, Reed Leonhardt of Granite Falls; grandchildren, Stacy Kijesky and husband, Rean, Clay Kincaid, Christian Beasley and wife, Mollie, Blake Beasley, Shirley Ann Beasley, Larisa Bruggeman, Aiden Bruggeman and Nicholas Bruggeman; great-grandchildren, Luke Kijesky, Adam Kijesky, Isla Kijesky and Baby Boy Beasley, on the way.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 22, at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Sturm officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., at the church, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Fallen Hero Ministry, c/o Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 3702 16th St., NE, Hickory, NC 28601 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.

To the Beasley family; a lot of memories to share of our families at Sandy Ridge over the last 50 years. Shirley will always be remembered as a worker for the LORD. What rest and peace she enjoys now. You men had a great Mother. To God be the Glory and God bless each one of you.

Shirley was like a second grandmother to many kids in our church. What a blessing she was to have. I remember her chasing me around for hugs after every Sunday. Prayers for the family. May God wrap his arms around you all. We love you.
