Marilyn Gunkel Obituary

Marilyn B. Gunkel, aged 87, passed away on Sept. 21, 2025, in Landers, California.
Born on June 11, 1938, in the heart of Minnesota, Marilyn was the beloved daughter of the late Marion and Virgie Baldridge. Her formative years were spent in Alden, Iowa, where she attended elementary school, before the family moved to Claremont, California, where she graduated from high school. She moved to the Yucca Valley area in the late 1970s with the love of her life, Chet Gunkel, who preceded her in death.
Together, Marilyn and Chet built a life filled with love and hard work, co-owning Gunkel Tractor Services. Marilyn's dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family. She was a loving mother to her two daughters, Brenda Dalme and the late Marian Tremblay. Her sons-in-law, Randy Dalme and Scott Tremblay, shared in the family's joys and sorrows.
Marilyn's spirit lives on through her daughter Brenda Dalme and son-in-law Randy Dalme, son-in-law Scott Tremblay, granddaughters Tasha Whitlock, Samantha Broadway and Tracy Tremblay and her grandson, Derrick Merkelbach, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren.
She was also a devoted niece to her aunt Darlene Warner, who will miss Marilyn's friendly conversations and loving presence. She also leaves behind caretaker Don Magub, for the last years of her life taking care of her until her passing.
