Robert Tate Obituary

Robert "Robby" E. Tate Jr. passed at the YRMC hospital after a short battle with cancer. He went peacefully with his Dad Bob holding his hand. He is now in the arms of his mother in heaven. Robby was 62.
Robby was born in Silver City, New Mexico, in 1961 where his parents, Bob and Florene, were students at Western New Mexico University. His brother, Todd, was born in 1964. Robby moved with his parents to Twentynine Palms, California, in 1965, where they took teaching jobs. Robby graduated from high school there in 1979. He played basketball and golf all four years. He was the MVP of the league his senior year and was all CIF all state first team.
Robby spent one year at College of the Desert and then transferred back to where he was born to attend Western New Mexico University. He graduated with a math degree. He also later got a master's degree in math. He taught in New Mexico, Arizona, Twentynine Palms and Oregon. Robby got out of teaching and went into the casino business as a dealer and a manager. He went back to teaching for the last 10 years in Owyhee, Nevada. He was also the boys basketball coach.
Robby was diagnosed with cancer in May and his father came and got him and took him to Yuma, Arizona, to finish out his life.
Robby is survived by his dad, Bob, three daughters including Meghan, grandson Jackson, granddaughter Karlee and brother Todd (Alma). Robby was preceded in death by his mother, Florene (2021).
Cremation services were performed by Yuma Mortuary.

Dear Coach Tate Family! How thankful I am to have met Robbie and his brother Todd as children so many years ago at basketball practice. What a special family I observed in the entire Tate family and such fine young boys I watched who have grown to be good men. Please know my prayers are with you all at this time as you resume your lives without Robbie. God our Creator is with you all at anytime and anywhere (Psalm 147:3). You can rely on Him!

I do truly hope we can get a get together organized at some point and enjoy some time together as I know it´s still something people would like to do! Best, Kirk and Tracy
