Randy Guffey Obituary

Randy Maurice Guffey was welcomed into the hands of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday March 27th, 2023. He passed peacefully with his family surrounding him. Randy was born in Townsend, Montana to Dorothy and Maurice Guffey on March 29th, 1949.

Randy's dad was in the army so he attended many schools all over America and Hana, Germany. Young Randy was very active in Boy Scouts, sports, played the guitar and enjoyed dancing. As a freshman in high school, Randy was interested in becoming a doctor one day. In the summers Randy helped his uncle on his ranch in Montana and also helped his family paint his grandma's house. In highschool, Randy was active in football, basketball, swimming, and track. He graduated in 1967 and married his highschool sweetheart, Diana, in 1969 in Tempe, Arizona. He graduated from ASU in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and competed on the swim team.

Randy taught in Tucson, Arizona, and Kerrville, Tx, later becoming the principal in Kerrville, Tx. He was then called to teach and be principal at Trinity Lutheran in Corpus Christi, Tx. Randy had the opportunity to move to Rockport, Tx to operate his own shrimp farm, which he loved and did for 3 years. Randy then went to teach highschool in Rockport until all of he and Diana's children graduated highschool, then they moved to Marble Falls, Texas to be closer to their children. There, Randy taught Physics, aerospace and rocket science at Marble Falls High School. He also obtained his Master of Science in Space Studies in 2012. Randy was still teaching Physics and Science at Faith Academy in Marble Falls.

Randy was extremely proud of his family and is survived by his loving wife, Diana, of fifty-three years, their four children Bryce, Jennifer, Angela and Darla, and eleven grandchildren; Colby, Cohen, Corbyn, Cambyl, Nora, Ryker, Nicholas, Noelle, Hudson, Jack and Luke. He is also survived by his 95 year old mother, brother, in-laws, many nieces and nephews.

Randy loved anything outdoors; he loved the ocean, camping, fishing, diving and definitely swimming. He was also extremely active with his sweet Belgian malinois, Nya. He just loved being around his family; it didn't matter what they were doing. He always had a smile on his face. Randy was so gentle, kind, and selfless. His warm, caring, genuine and Christian personality was evident to everyone he met. His faith in Jesus was strong, and he always wanted everyone to know they would be saved through their faith in Jesus Christ. Randy touched so many lives; family, friends, students, coworkers, and anyone he met. He is and will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11am at Fellowship Baptist Church in Marble Falls, Texas. Feel free to wear bright colors to honor the warm presence that Randy left in people's lives.

Mr. Guffey was formerly my co-worker at MFHS and, this year, he was our oldest daughter's teacher at FA. Mr. Guffey was the epitome of a true gentleman and this world is a little dimmer without him here. Thank you Mr. Guffey for making a positive, lasting impression on everyone you met.

Mr. Guffey lit up any room he walked into! From meeting him in High School to still seeing him years later as I drew his blood, he was always so upbeat and loving. You will be greatly missed. I will forever remember that great smile that was so welcoming to everyone. Sending love and prayers to his sweet family!

Randy was an exemplary educator whose love for learning inspired many. Kind and soft spoken, he always went the extra mile for his students. For Randy, teaching was more than just a job. It was a calling to help young people achieve their fullest potential.
