William Godfrey Obituary
Bill graduated from Jonesville High School in 1941 and he worked as a rural letter carrier for the United States Post Office in Jerome for 40 years. Bill served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the 88th Division Blue Devils Outfit. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, life member of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and the local chapter of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. Bill was a former member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and he also enjoyed playing rummy.
In addition to his wife, Kathleen, Bill is survived by three children, Kathleen Diane (Edward) Pombier of Plantation, Florida, William Frederick (Betty) Godfrey of Round Lake and Marcia (Gary) Penix of Jonesville; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Godfrey and William Penix; sister, Pauline Klein and brothers, Robert and Alvin Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial for William "Bill" Godfrey will be 2 p.m. Friday, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hillsdale with Fr. David Reamsnyder officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Eagle Funeral Home in Jonesville.
