Bonna Cottle Obituary

Bonna Mae was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 4, 1928 to Ida Ardella (Jensen) and Daniel James Corbett. Bonna loved growing up in Salt Lake City. She would often walk to Liberty Park, and visit the Capitol building, or stroll through Memory Grove. She attended Liberty Elementary School and graduated a year early from South High due to WWII. At 17 she married Laurence Bunderson Cottle on March 22, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Laurence was a dairy farmer by trade and they moved often around Utah and Idaho to find work and provide for their growing family. Bonna loved to garden and would beautify her surroundings wherever they lived. Bonna had a thirst for knowledge and when given an opportunity to further her education, graduated (Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Weber State College on June 5, 1976.

Bonna loved the gospel and her family. She served throughout her life in the Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society, was a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, worked on her genealogy and worked and served in the temple with a special fondness for the baptistry. She served a mission in South Dakota with Laurence, and completed a mission in Washington after his death.

Bonna was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and three sisters, her husband; Laurence Bunderson Cottle, her second husband, Clarence Edward (Hank) Grody, grandsons; Stephen Lee Cottle, Ammon Joseph Briggs, Brock Justin Cottle, and granddaughter; Katherine Daye Ceja. She is survived by her 11 children: Daniel Laurence Cottle (Nan), Don Corbett Cottle (Deanne), Linda Marie (LaMar Smith), Bonna Mae (John Quick), James Terry Cottle, Keith Corbett Cottle (Joan), Ann Louise (Jan Visser), Mark Corbett Cottle (Michelle), Susan Ardella (Eric Duthie), Betty Jean (Jeff Miller), Mary Beth (Jimmy Briggs), 61 grandchildren; 105 great-grandchildren (one more due in 2023), and 26 great-great-grandchildren (three more due in 2023).

At age 87, Bonna sold her home and spent her remaining years in the homes of her three

youngest daughters. Bonna passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, at her daughter's home in Providence, Utah. We loved our Mother very much. We are so grateful that we had her with us for so many years. Each new day was like a gift to us. She will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Tender Care Hospice for the compassionate care they provided our mother.
