Evelyn Marden Obituary

Evelyn Harris Marden left this life on the same day that she started her journey here. She passed away on her 77th birthday; Aug. 9, 2025 at the Heritage Living Center in Soda Springs, ID. Evelyn was born August 9, 1948, in Preston, ID, to Howard Odell Harris and Nada Wilde. She was the oldest child in the family and was followed by four sisters: LaNae, Beverly, Jolene, and Jan. Evelyn grew up on the family farm in Thatcher, ID. She attended schools at Thatcher Elementary and Grace High School. Upon graduation she moved to Boise, ID, and attended Links Business College. While living in Boise she met and married Harold Charles Marden on Apr. 20, 1974, and together they raised one son, Jason Marden.

Evelyn worked a few part-time jobs but her favorite thing was being there for her son and to cheer him on in all of his activities. Harold and Evelyn lived a big part of their married life in Boise, ID, but also spent several years in Walla Walla, Washington. When Harold retired they moved to Preston, ID, to be closer to Evelyn's sisters whom she loved spending time with.

Evelyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her favorite calling was serving as a ministering sister and she was good at this calling. She was always so kind and compassionate and willing to help where help was needed. Evelyn also spent much of her time helping extended family members. She spent a lot of time helping her niece care for her small children while her niece's husband served two tours overseas for the military. She showed unconditional love to everyone she met.

Evelyn enjoyed working in her garden, reading, and taking care of her pets. She loved doing genealogy and spent much of her spare time keeping the family histories up to date. She also loved visiting with her family and friends that came each summer during rodeo time to sit on her lawn and watch the parades go past. She loved family reunions, taking trips to visit her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Jenny, and having yard sales with her sisters.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Rex Jardine. She is survived by her husband- Harold, son - Jason, daughter-in-law-Jenny, sisters - LaNae (Wynn) Stoddard of Idaho Falls, ID, Beverly (Jeff) Gunnell of Preston, ID, Jolene (Gerald) Alleman of Thatcher, ID, Jan Jardine of Tetonia, ID, sister-in-law- Peggy Alleman of Thatcher, ID, and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday August 18, 2025 at the Preston Cemetery. There will be a short visitation from 11:30 to 12:30 at the funeral home prior to the graveside services.

A special thanks to the staff at the Heritage Living Center in Soda Springs and to the Symbii Home Health and Hospice, for their kindness and compassionate care. To share a favorite memory of Evelyn, or to offer condolences to the family, please leave a tribute at www.redrosefuneral.com
