James Allen Obituary

James (Jim) Ray Allen, 65, of Hyde Park, Utah, passed away on October 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born on September 26, 1960, in Logan, Utah, to Clair and BeNon Allen. He was raised on a farm in Cove, Utah, where he learned the value of hard work and built lifelong friendships with a close-knit group of boys who became like brothers to him.

From a young age, Jim worked alongside his brothers-laying pipe, hauling hay, and, as he liked to joke, "chasing chicks". After graduating from Sky View High School in 1979, he spent a summer working on a pineapple farm in Hawaii before serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Arkansas.

Jim lived a life full of adventure and purpose. He spent a couple of years in Alaska before returning to Utah, where he worked in a variety of fields before finding his home at the Allen Gravel Pit. He dedicated the last 25 years of his career there, respected and admired by those he worked with for his strong work ethic and easygoing nature.

Jim's life was marked by strength and resilience-he survived cancer twice before facing his third and final battle with the same courage and faith that defined him. He fought hard and lived fully, right up to the end.

Jim was married four times throughout his life and was blessed with three children with his first wife, Christine Goodsell (married January 8,1985) Jim's Children were the light of his life, He then married his current wife, Dolly Allen on December 31, 2008, and was blessed with six stepchildren.

He loved the outdoors and found joy in fishing-especially in Yellowstone-camping, and celebrating his birthday every fall at Lewis Lake with his children and loved ones. He loved going to movies, taking road trips, playing games with friends, and going on spontaneous vacations. He was "always on the go," an adventurous man who also loved gardening later in life.

Jim had the biggest heart of anyone who knew him. He was selfless, nonjudgmental, and always ready to help others. His humor, kindness, and adventurous spirit touched countless lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jim's cousin, Arlene, for the love and care she provided during his final days. Her compassion and dedication brought comfort and peace to both Jim and his family.

Jim is survived by his father Clair Allen, his wife Dolly Allen, Children Casey Allen (Meagan Blake), Jamie Oldham, Caleb Allen, Bobbi Thomas (Wade Thomas), Gabe Chadwick (Jada Chadwick), Jake Chadwick (Emily Chadwick), Holli Jenkins (Chris Jenkins), Jeanni Chadwick, Missi Chadwick. 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His siblings, Craig (Kathy), Jill (David), Kurt (Terry), Chris (Denise), Rick (Cammi), Troy (Kelly) Several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded in death by his mother BeNon Allen, third wife: Cindy Allen, grandchild: Saphera and great-grandchild: Asher
