Jeff Ratliff Obituary

Jeff Ratliff
Logan - Jeff Ratliff was a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a friend and the life of the party. The buzzer sounded on June 3, 2015. He was born in Bethesda, Maryland, and moved to Boulder, Colorado, when he was a baby. He graduated from University of Colorado - Boulder. He moved to California in his early 20s and had a master's degree in international business. One of his favorite jobs was as an athletic director of a university in California. He loved sports and loved to be around youth. He used to say, "Everybody likes to be young, but I was really good at it." With a personality larger than life, he was able to find humor in any situation and made friends everywhere. He was truly a one-of-a-kind person. His laughter was bright enough to light a dark room, and you couldn't help but long to be around his personality.
Everyone who remembers Jeff is asked to celebrate his life in their own way; telling a funny story, laughing with friends, having a beer under the sun (or anywhere else), having a picnic with your family, playing sports with your kids, making fun of yourselves. He loved sports and all the simple things in life. He will be truly missed.
He left his wife, Patricia Ratliff, his sons Riley "Bobcat" Ratliff and Taelon D. Ratliff (from a previous marriage), his mother, Jane Ratliff, siblings and friends. "Jeff, we love you more than all the letters in all the words in all the pages in all the books in all the world".
A memorial service will be held Friday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com.

33 years I spent debating sports with my brother Jeff. Not by blood but by the pure enjoyment at hollering at each other. Lol...me a member of the Raider NATION, Jeff a bleeding orange Broncos nut. John Elway was his idol...even to the end zone.33 years is a long time to be a friend. Jeff and I spent most of the time on the phone. We listen to games together. We pretended we had our on radio show doing NFL games. Jeff always had a STRONG point of view. His was the only right view to hear him tell it. Lol...Picking up the phone to get my weekly dose of Ratliff Opinion on any sport or topic was Awesome. I always looked forward to our talks. I had a phrase about Jeff he loved. It goes "nobody loves Jeff Ratliff more than Jeff Ratliff" or we shared if you don't agree with me you're not listening." lol ... we brothers laughed at ourselves a lot... when we did meet up in person it was memorable. I gave Jeff a hug once and he said "you got 30 minutes to stop doing that!" funny person. Jeff, you were a solid friend to the end. I will miss you terribly. I last spoke to Jeff the last night before he died...
Jeff loved his son Riley @ wife Patricia wildly. Jeff was so proud of his man cave which now belongs to sweet Bobcat...so Bobcat, if you ever need to talk to daddy go there. HIS SPIRIT IS WAITING TO LISTEN. LOVE UNCLE BILL...and Jeff one more time ... I'M OUT.
