Morris R. Griffin, 91, much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully Feb. 14, 2017. Morris was born January 29, 1926, in Newton, Utah, the son of Idella Elizabeth Petersen and Amos Reuben Griffin. He grew up on the family farm in Newton. Morris graduated from North Cache High School and then served in the Army during World War II. He married Helen Joy Daines on Sept. 19, 1946, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They both attended Utah State University and then moved to San Francisco where he graduated from dental school at the University of the Pacific. Morris and Helen made their home in Downey, California, where they lived for 60 years. Morris spent his life caring for his family and friends. An active member the of the LDS Church, he served as a high priest group Leader and as a ward and stake clerk. Many benefited from his kindness. He loved golf, sports of all kinds, real estate, reading and crossword puzzles. Morris' greatest happiness came from his family and friends. He always looked forward to their visits, phone calls and family activities. He especially enjoyed his 90th birthday party last year where he was able to celebrate with many of his loved ones. He will be missed by all. Morris is survived by his daughters, Marilyn (Gerry) Earl, Patricia Bartlett, Sheri (Roger) Judd, and his son, Morris Cort (Donna) Griffin; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and sons, Brian Daines Griffin and Jeffrey Todd Griffin; parents; brothers, Amos Clarke Griffin, Richard Andrew (Mildred) Griffin, Duane William (LaGene) Griffin, and sister RaNae Griffin Hovey. Morris' family would like to express their appreciation to Downey 3rd Ward members, friends, and his caregivers, who enhanced his later years with their care and company. A visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at noon. The funeral services followed at 1 p.m. Interment will be at the Newton, Utah, Cemetery on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. Funeral services are under the direction of Cache Valley Mortuary, (435) 787-8514, 80 W. 4200 North, Hyde Park, UT 84318 (new location).
