Ian was one of the most genuine, kind, and loving person I knew. To this day I cherish the positivity he brought into my life. We spent many swim meets together throughout the years as our coaches were buddies. One of my favorite memories of Ian was when we were on our recruiting trip to Louisville. We spent hours together jumping off the 10M until my feet went raw and purple, but every jump was just as fun as the last. My last memories with Ian were before I transferred to the University of Florida. I moved back to Dexter temporarily and he was an amazing friend to me the whole time I was home and needed a friend. We would grab lunch, walked around Ann Arbor, sit around and talked for hours about life and me transferring, and spent many nights as partners in the teams card games at parties. He helped me through my decision process to commit to Florida by encouraging me to go to the place that feels like home. He was there for me when I needed a friend, mentor, and shoulder. I will never forget the friendship we had and all his love and support.

Miskelley Family-
Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers and I am beyond sorry for your loss. Ian was a very special young man that touched the hearts and lives of many. I am very fortunate to have spent time with him this past year while at home in Michigan. He was always so supportive of me and everyone around him. He was one of the most genuine, kind, loving, and uplifting people I have met. I will forever cherish the memories I’ve made with him throughout the years from going on our recruiting trip together, hanging out and talking for hours on the couch, to going on walks around Ann Arbor to find the best place to get ice cream and food. One of my most fond memories of Ian was from when we went on our recruiting trip to UofL together; we both had jumped off the ten meter so many times it made our feet raw all the while we couldn’t stop laughing while we jumped. He was so helpful to me this past year and made me feel included by showing me I had his friendship while I was at home searching for a new school to attend. The many long talks we had about his love for UofM’s swim program helped guide me to find a place that I would love just as much. I aspire to have the passion he had for swimming and caring for others. I will forever miss him and the love he radiated.

We mourn the brevity of his life with us. We can regret the quantity of days that he shared with his family, friends, and teammates. But those days were filled with an abundance of quality. He was a phenom in the water. He was a delight to be around. He gave us his best so many times. Peace, Ian. You deserve that.

Ian had energy, enthusiasm, laugh and work ethic. But best of all, he had a kind heart. He was talkative and open, so personable. I will miss his spunk and his fun personality. I'll never forget the trips we took as families to swim meets, lunches and dinners. I'll remember how Ian, Ferris and Derek were ringleaders of trouble (lol) on the Zone team. We had a blast cliff jumping in the rain at Bama. So many fun memories of Ian hanging out with the West Ottawa group of swimmers! Ian made the world a better place. We will miss him so much. We know he's with us now, where the pools will never close and the sun always shines. Swim on and have fun Ian! Heaven welcomes you with open arms! ❤
