Larry Smith

1929 - 2015

Larry Smith, age 85 of Zeeland went home to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, April 30, 2015.
He was born in Nebraska on October 30, 1929 to Arthur and Edith Smith. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1948 where he served for 20 years.
Larry owned and operated Zeeland Book Shop for 13 years. He was the Past President of the Zeeland Lions Club, the Past President of Zeeland Rotary Club, he served on the Zeeland Public School Board for 7 years and was a member of First Reformed Church of Zeeland.
Larry was preceded in death by his son Lawrence D. Smith Jr. in 1969, his parents Arthur and Edith Smith, his siblings: Irene Jaenicke, Doris Metzler and Joseph Neil Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Jane Vander Velde Smith; his children, Tony Harmer, A.J. and Kristin Smith, Chris and Jill Smith; 4 grandchildren, Kaleb Smith, Emily Smith, Kaitlyn Smith and Joseph Harmer.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Yntema Funeral Home, 251 South State Street, Zeeland and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Monday prior to the service at First Reformed Church of Zeeland, 125 East Lincoln Ave, Zeeland. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. The Reverends Scott Van Oostendorp and Tom Grabill will officiate.
