Robert Trovillion

1920 - 2017

United States veteran, Robert Hall Trovillion, passed away with family at his side, on June 25, 2017 at the age of 96.
He was born on July 10, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Lillian (Hall) Trovillion. He graduated from Northwestern University and served four years as a Lieutenant in the US Navy during World War II. He spent three years on the destroyer USS Moffett in the Atlantic Theatre and continued to have reunions with his shipmates over many years.
He was a metallurgist and worked at Inland Steel Company and Jessup Steel Company before starting his own manufacturing representative business and retiring in his seventies. He enjoyed oil painting classes from Charles Vickery for over 40 years. At the age of 90 he started bag pipe lessons and went on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial.
Bob lived life to the fullest and truly loved his family, faith, friends and pets. Meeting him in heaven are his wife of 60 years, Janet (Barr) Trovillion; his brother, Frank; and sister, Mary and parents. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Megan (Eric) Heller; grandson, Grant (Sylvie) Heller; and great grandchild, Selena Heller, who called him "Big Papa". Six nieces and nephews also survive as well as a son, Robert Barr Trovillion and his family.
Bob was a kind, calm and capable man whose family grieves with gratitude for his long and fulfilling life. They would like to thank the staff at Appledorn North Assisted Living for their special care, all of Bob's independent care givers and Comfort Keepers care givers for their tender and compassionate care.
In light of all the kindness and blessings he has been shown and in lieu of flowers or donations, Bob would like it if you would simply pass along a kindness to another.
