Roger Scholten Obituary

Roger Scholten, 76, passed away on August 16, 2017. He is survived by Barb, his wife of 52 years, daughter, Sara Scholten, son and his wife, Patrick and Carolyn Scholten, grandson, Jacob Scholten, and sister, Esther Robberts.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Geneva DeBoer and nephew, Ken DeBoer.
Rog was employed for many years at American Aerosol/Guardsman, then was owner and President of Effective Flow Ideas (EFI), and worked 20+ years for Metzger Conveyors. He was a man dedicated to work and family, and strived for excellence in life.
Rog was a "people person" who always enjoyed meeting new people and enjoyed time with friends. He always "talked" about retiring, but never found the time, as the love of the next challenge was always there.
The one place he always found time for relaxation was Beaver Island. It was a true place of solace for him and Barb. Rog's eyes always lit up when telling of their adventures exploring the natural beauty of Beaver Island, and the peacefulness enjoyed while reading.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that contributions be made to either Hospice of Holland or the First Presbyterian Church of Holland. Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Rog's Life on Wednesday, August 23 between 4 and 7 P.M. at Spectators Bar and Grill, Saugatuck, MI.
The family is being served by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home. www.langelandsterenberg.com.

Barb and Family, I'm sorry for your loss. Roger supported our company through Metzgar. He always brightened my day. I'd frequently harass him about retiring; he did what he loved. I really believe he loved the people before the job. Whenever we chatted we ended up talking about about family, friends, and fun; important things in life. In the 15 years I came to know Roger, he always taught me something new. He will remain a truly a neat person.

Barb - Ron and I are saddened by the passing of Roger, we haven't seen you and Roger in awhile but always knew it was only a pause in our busy lives and when we met again we'd pick up right where we left off, that's what we'll remember about Roger, his warmth, his friendliness, his love for his family and his ability to reconnect with family and friends.

Ah Barb - disbelief is the word that sticks in my head. There are no words that will help but hopefully you can find some comfort in knowing that you are in our thoughts our prayers and are hearts. His spirit will always be with us and that neither Roger or you will ever walk alone. ❤
