Donald Jewell Jr.

Donald Jewell, Jr. passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, July 01, 2016. He was 78 years old. Mr. Jewell was a native of Pointe Coupee Parish, and was a resident of Houma, Louisiana for the last forty-six years. When he first came to Terrebonne Parish in 1970, he worked as a math teacher at both Southdown Middle and Houma Junior High schools. Subsequently, he owned and operated several businesses in Houma, including a rental property business. He loved life, and he loved to travel. He had been on many trips and cruises all over the world.

He is survived by his brother, Carroll Jewell, and wife, Bonnie, of Slidell, Louisiana, his niece Charlene Jewell Sauter , and husband Gerald, also of Slidell, and his nephew, Chris Jewell, of Metairie, Louisiana, and many other family members and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bernadette Pascalin Jewell, his sister, Mary Jewell St. Romain, his nephew, Ernest St. Romain, Jr., and half-sisters Gracie David and Uda Ballard.

There are no services planned at this time. Niland Funeral Home in New Roads is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to thank Dr. Russell Henry and the nursing and hospice staff at Terrebonne General Medical Center for all of their kind and professional assistance. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
