Louis Gueniot Obituary

Louis Edme' Gueniot Jr. passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017. He was a native of Houma, and a current resident of Richmond, Texas.
Louis leaves behind his best friend and wife of 56 years, Jean Cenac Gueniot; children, Louis E. "Weegie" Gueniot III and his wife, Jennifer Witt Gueniot, Jean Marie Gueniot, Albert Gueniot, and Claudine Gueniot Voznick; adored grandchildren, Jordan Paige, Matthew Louis, and Nicolai; niece, Karen Gueniot Kornegay; and her son, Spencer; and his three brothers, Gene, Bruce and Brian Gueniot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis E. Gueniot Sr. and Eula Gueniot; one brother, Donald P. Gueniot; and great-nephew, Dylan Kornegay.
Louis was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales Catholic High School, where he was the recipient of the Bishop Schexnayder Award, and also attended LSU on a baseball scholarship. He was a veteran of the Air Force Reserves, and a businessman in the oil industry. Louis promoted Cajun food, traveling throughout the U.S. as a member of the International Caterer's Association. He was a food columnist and the host of the television program, "Cooking At It's Finest."
He was best known for his leadership and was involved in numerous church, civic and community affairs. He served on the boards of the Chamber of Commerce, Ellendale Country Club, the Houma-Terrebonne Carnival Club, and the National Marfan Association, among others.
Louis was one of a kind, and an example of how to live a life of faith and integrity. If there was anyone in need, Louis was there to assist and console with encouraging words, stories and lots of good food. Those who knew Louis were so blessed to have him in their lives. He was the guide and driving force for his family, and will be sorely missed.
An intimate prayer service was led by Reverend Dat Hoang, Pastor of St. Faustina Catholic Church. Memorial gifts in honor of Louis can be made to St. Faustina Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1099, Fulshear, Texas, 77441, or http://saintfaustinachurch.org. Louis made an anatomical donation to advance medical research.

Sweet Mr. Louis was one of the kindest, most sincere, and honest men I have known my entire life. I am so grateful for the time I spent learning generousity, attentiveness, and compassion as a teen working at B&L supermarket. My parents always enjoyed their friendships with the large family too.
He made MANY lives richer and I always felt golden when I had a conversation with him. No one was ever of more importance at that moment if Mr. Louis was giving you his undivided attention. I wonder if he knew how many of us would have loved to have gathered for his send off and to comfort the Guenoit family! Sending prayers to family and friends. God bless.

Louis meant so much to our family! We were blessed to spend time with him and hear many stories! He was truly a stand out citizen who took care of just about everyone. I will always cherish our frequent visits to see our neighbor Mr Louis. My 3 year old always led the way to see his Best Buddy, Louis! I will always remind my boys of how special he was to our family. We miss him terribly and are better people because of Louis. Prayers to his family and friends. He will forever be in our hearts.
