Vinis Gisclair Sr. Obituary
Visitation will be held at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 7, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church; with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.
Vinis is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Dot" Gisclairl; sons, Tate (Janelle) and Marty (Claudette) Gisclair; step-children, Wayne (Myra) St. Pierre, Anoinette Bruce, Audrey St. Pierre, Joseph St. Pierre, Lillian (Jody) Chaisson, Stephanie (Reese) Angeron; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; 24 step-grandchildren; and 28 step-great-greatgrandchildren; and sisters, Lovenia Eymard, Lorina Griffin and Rita Cheramie.
Vinis was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores S. Gisclair; parents, Milien and Caroline Plaisance Gisclair; children, Alice Adams, Gail Dupre and Vinis Gisclair Jr.; grandson; Tate Gisclair Jr.; step-son, Steven St.Pierre; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Vinis was an avid carpenter and loved wood working. He loved teaching at South Lafourche Vo-Tech School. He also made the best wooden rockers money could buy.
Samart-Mothe Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
