Wilbert Dupre Obituary
Wilbert "Balou" Joseph Dupre Sr., 68, a native of Montegut and resident of Bourg, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Merrile Crochet Dupre; son, Wilbert "Boo" Dupre Jr. and wife, Sheila; daughter, Monique D. Prosperie and husband, Brad; brothers, Herbert Dupre, Ivy Dupre Sr. and David Dupre Sr.; sisters, Wilma St. Amant; grandsons, Christopher Dupre, Jeremy Guidry, Jacob Prosperie and Zachary Dupre; and great-granddaughter, Kaylie Guidry;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward J. Dupre and Hattie L. Dupre.
He was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church. He was a retired riverboat captain with Exxon. He was an avid fisherman and devoted many years to the Bourg Volunteer Fire Department as assistant fire chief and training officer. He loved his family and friends dearly.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

I have very fond memories of Uncle Balou. As children, my sisterfirmly friends, and I could always count on him to keep our bicycle tires full of air and he and Aunt Merrill always ensured we had our snacks and stayed hydrated with all that bike riding.
My heart goes out to Aunt Merrill, Boo, Monique, and their immediate family members as I know how hard it is to lose your 'rock' ...and dearly loved family member.

I put off signing this, but it is time to do it. Dad, you was one of a kind. You was the best father anyoen could have, but yet you let us in the right right direction. You was always the happiest person around even when everything was going wrong. You never had a second thought about helping someone in need. You were the perfect father, husband, friend,, and fireman. Heaven has gained a great man. Times will be hard for us left behind, but your memories will help us through it. Dad I will ALWAYS love you. Until we meet again, I love you and miss youdearly.
