Abbie Woolley Obituary

ABBIE LYNN WOOLLEY was born on November 25, 1909 in Huntington, Texas, lived in in Bellville, and moved to Houston at the age of 14, and died on December 5, 2003. She attended Houston schools and Massey Business College and has been a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a member of the Sadler Bible Class, The United Methodist Women, Mann Circle and Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. She also was past President of Houston Engineering & Scientific Society Auxiliary, past President of Braeswood Garden Club, member of P.E.O. Chapter E. and past President of Holly Hall Retirement Community. She was still active in all of these organizations. For the past two years, Abbie made her home at Holly Hall Retirement Community. Abbie was a kind, loving and generous lady who made friends easily and spread her kindness and love abundantly on her family, friends and everyone she met. The family of Abbie Woolley want to thank the dedicated staff and residents at Holly Hall for the special care and love they provided for her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herschel P. Woolley. She is survived by her wonderful children Linda Petersen and Lynn Woolley and wife Beverly, her six grandchildren Lynn Peterson Gross and husband Bill of Dallas, Claire Petersen Granberry and husband Jeff of Houston, James E. Petersen Jr. of Houston, Cheryl Woolley Jackson and husband Robert of Houston, James A. Woolley and wife Judy and David Lynn Woolley of St. Paul, Minnesota. Abbie also leaves her ten great- grandchildren Alison, Will, Leslie and Casey Gross, Erin, Robin and Devon Granberry, Morgan and Abbie Jackson, Jamie Woolley. Her family includes , Brother-in-law Kenneth Woolley , Sisters-in-Law Mary Lee Stubbs and Marion Woolley, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited for visitation with the family Sunday December 7, from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. A family Graveside service will be at 10:00am Monday December 8 at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery. A memorial service will be at 2:00pm Monday December 8, at St. Pauls United Methodist Church at 5501 South Main. St. Houston, Tx. 77004. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be sent to Holly Hall Retirement Home, 8304 Knight Road Houston, Texas 77054 or to St. Pauls United Methodist Church.
