I am honored to have known "Mama Blake".

My Mother passed away several years ago. I had just met Mama Blake. In her precious and special way she embraced me as part of her family. She always included me in family functions; and always said "I love you" and most endearing, a sympathy card she sent to me the week my mother passed away.

The words comforted me in ways I tried to express to her.

She said "Honey, I can not ever take the place of your mother, but I will be your "mama" you are a part of my family now"

I read that card still and I know she is with me when I do.

Her family loved and was loved by her.

Mama Blakes's funeral was a tribute to a wonderful woman.

We cried because we did not want her to leave us, we smile because we know she loves us and is with us each day. Most important she knew we all loved and cherished her.

God hold her in your loving arms, she is a keeper.

I love you Mama Blake.

Thanks for all those hugs and that smile. You will be with me always.

Rest in peace.

Words can not express the love my Nonna and I shared and the emptiness that her passing has left in my heart. I know that she is in a better place and out of pain and for that I'm thankful. But the selfish part of me wishes she was still here.

My Grandmother was a woman of great strengh that overcame many obstacles in her life. She was a woman who loved deeply and was generouse with her affections. A wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. I hope if I have grandchildren they will cherish me as much as I will always cherish her. The best was all she settled for and all she gave.

I love you Nonna, now and for always. I miss you terribly and hope that you are living in your mansion in heaven that you so earned on earth.

Until we meet again.

Love,

Rebecca

Nonna is what I knew her by. She was my second grandmother. I treasued her deeply, as did every one I met that knew her. She will be missed and loved.

Aunt Mae was an important part of my childhood...she actually chose my name and convienced my mother that Gloria Angeline would be a better name than Jessica Angeline.

I always had such fun at Aunt Mae's & Uncle Son's house...and that big old black Tarplane car of theirs was the biggest car I'd ever seen.

No one cooked pinto beans and cornbread like Aunt Mae...Funny how so many years later these fond memories are embedded in a corner of my heart...She was truly a woman who loved her family & was the happiest when she was surrounded by that family....I never recall seeing her without a smile on her face! What a full life she lived, and I'm assured by my faith in Our Lord that we shall meet again in a better place...God bless the family at this most difficult time....

All who have known Mama loved her. I am devasted by the loss of her but at least her and I shared a rare friendship between mom and daughter. I will miss her for the rest of my life and will look forward to meeting up with her again in a better place.
