Alice Kilgore Obituary

Alice Dargan Kilgore
1926-2018
Alice Dargan Kilgore passed away peacefully and was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on the 19th of June, 2018 after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother and sister, Alice was born on the 6th of October 1926, in Houston, Texas to Alfred Neal Dargan and Edna Goode "Peg" Dargan. She was a 5th generation Houstonian and a 5th generation member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1943. She graduated from the University of Houston in 1951 and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority as well as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi honorary fraternity. On the 5th of September 1946 she married Billy Charles Kilgore. They were devoted to each other for 55 years until his death in 2001.
She was dedicated to her family and took great pride in all their activities and accomplishments. Nothing brought her more joy than being with her family sharing good times especially as the family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was generous with her time and talents as a volunteer at the Cerebral Palsy Center where she entertained by playing the piano to enthusiastic audiences.
She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church Elizabeth Circle.
She was committed to her community and was on the Hunter's Creek Village planning and zoning commission for 23 years.
After raising her family she embarked on a successful career as a real estate broker with Memorial Realty.
Alice is welcomed into heaven by her loving husband Billy, sister Betty Neal, and grandson Blake.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Becky Coogan and husband Jamie, Brian Kilgore and wife Laura Lea, Duane Kilgore and wife Barbie; grandchildren Allison Coogan, Shane Coogan and fiancé Laura, Brent Kilgore and wife Julie, Jeffrey Kilgore and wife Carli, Russell Kilgore and wife Sarah, Kelly Ramirez and husband Andy, Katherine Pitzinger and husband Joe and great-grandchildren Wade Kilgore, Hayes Kilgore, Andres Ramirez, George Ramirez, Luke Pitzinger. She is also survived by her cousin Jeff Carroll as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. All will miss Alice's smile, her jokes, her laughter, and her undeniable commitment to them.
A celebration of Alice's life is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Monday, the 25th of June, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in memory of Alice Kilgore may be directed to the charity of one's choice.
