Andrew SoRelle Obituary

Andrew "Andy"
Currie SoRelle, III, quit his mortal remains on August 2nd, 2013, in the presence of his four sons, Andrew Currie SoRelle, IV, Robert Sanford SoRelle, Daniel Dale SoRelle, and Michael Hamilton SoRelle, whom he affectionately called "the Brothers." He is also survived by their families, including three grandchildren, Andrew Currie SoRelle, V, Eleanor Marjorie SoRelle, and his unborn grandson. Additionally, he leaves behind his beloved niece, Andrea Lauren SoRelle, and his wife Gabrielle Inez Girard.
Andy was born in Houston, Texas, on February 7, 1946. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew "Ace" Currie SoRelle, Jr., and Maxine Chambers SoRelle, and his dear sister, Virginia Lee SoRelle, as well as many friends and extended family.
Andy was a lover of the great outdoors, especially the Rocky Mountains and the Hill Country of Texas. He had a refined ear for classical music and was often transported by the beauty of his favorite composers. He was also a prodigious reader with a special affinity for Russian literature, and a deep, unquenchable love of the Bible.
His life will be celebrated, and his passing remembered, in a public Funeral Mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on August 12th, 2013, at 10 a.m., where he recently received the Sacraments and became a parishioner, followed by a private burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to the Holy Rosary Centennial Campaign in order to improve the church that Andy so loved and to facilitate the Dominican mission of preaching the Gospel.

As long as I am able I will remember the kindness and hospitality Mr. Sorrell showed. He left a lifetime memory on my heart. Like David in the Bible, he seemed to be a man after God's own heart!

This man made a lasting impression on my husband and me. He was the picture book example of a true gentleman. You will always be thought and remembered by us with warmest thoughts. I know you are with the Lord. We will see you again.

Andrew knew me as Yvonne Taylor, wife of Larry Taylor from Winnsboro, Tx. at the time we met him. He left a life long admiration in our hearts at his kind heart. He was well above our means and when he spoke to us it was as if we were intimate, lifelong friends. His soft spoken manner put the both of us at ease and it was one of the most memorable nights of our lives as we made a new friend. He left us with a parting gift of 'God's Promises' wherein he wrote a precious note from he and his wife. Thank you; to all his family, for sharing him with the world.

Andy was my first boyfriend at the Kinkaid School when I was in the 4th grade; I know he suffered for sometime so I know he is in a better place.

It is very sad to hear of the passing of Andy, but he's always going to be with you and me and he's not going anywhere.

With our sympathy and prayers for peace and acceptance to Andy's sons, their wives and families, to Gabrielle, his wife and to Andy's many friends, associates, and well-wishers who loved and admired the SoRelle family. Andy SoRelle died as he lived: with faith, patience, courage and abiding love for his family and friends. May your spirit rest with the eternal love of your Savior. Until we meet again, old friend,
