Angela Gallo Obituary

Angela Rose "Jean" Gallo
1930-2017
On June 23rd 2017, in the early morning hours, Angela Rose "Jean" Gallo departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior. Jean was born in Philadelphia, attended Halloran High School and Temple University where she put her artistic talents to work, majoring in design and art. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother John.
While in college, a friend introduced Jean to Tom Gallo thinking they must be related since they had the same last name (they were not). Jean and Tom married in April of 1951, and always joked about Jean not having to change her monograms. They remained together for 66 years and she is survived by the love of her life, Thomas C. "Tom" Gallo, two children, David Jude Gallo, Esq., of La Jolla, California, and Diane Noel Gallo-Gana of Conroe, Texas, along with son-in-law Douglas Gana completing the three "D's", as she called her children, and of course her much loved grand-dogs.
For the last nine years, Jean and Tom have made their home at Camden Royal Oaks. Jean was a member of the painting group, acted in some of the CRO productions, and enjoyed arts, crafts and reading voraciously. She and Tom were regular fixtures at all the CRO social events, and there are many pictures that chronicle festivities over the years. Known for her short blonde hair and statement jewelry (especially earrings), and being less than five feet tall she a made a big impression.
Since coming to Houston in 1974, she was an active member of St. John Vianney's Catholic Church, and volunteered for many years at Joseph's Coat, their resale shop, coordinating fashion shows and other events. In fact, she designed the logo they now use.
Jean was extremely social and made friends everywhere she went. Even, most recently, confined to a hospital with a broken leg, she made sure to know all the pertinent details about the staff and patients, making each one of them feel special. She would always share a laugh and a story with her caregivers and offer them a treat when they came in to care for her or to just visit. They will always remember a moment with Jean.
Jean will be missed by her family and friends, but they take comfort in knowing that her faith prepared her for this transition into the next life. A memorial mass will be scheduled at St. John Vianney's in the near future.

Tom,

I have known Jean for the past 18 years. She was the most beautiful, kind and loving caring person I have ever known. She took the trouble to learn to greet me in my language and did a good job remembering it. I will miss talking to her. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to you, David and Diane. Take care.
