Benjamin Skornik Obituary
1946-2016
Ben Skornik passed away on April 12, 2016 in Houston, TX.
Ben was born in Kazakhstan to Litman & Eugenia Skornik on June 12, 1946. He spent his early years in Wroclaw, Poland. Wroclaw was known as the city of rivers and where Ben learned his love of fishing. He emigrated with his parents at fourteen to seek a life of greater opportunity. As the entire family was not allowed to leave, Ben was hidden in the toolbox underneath the train car. They entered the states along with thousands of other at Ellis Island. They relocated to Dallas where he graduated from North Dallas High School and later attended Southern Methodist University before moving to Houston.
Ben is survived by his wife Brenda of 43 years, his aunt Maria, niece Sofia and numerous cousins. Heartfelt thanks to Nurse Eileen Tipton for her kind care and compassion. A private remembrance will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers a donation in Ben's honor may be made to West Houston Animal Rescue, 14455 Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77079.

Ben was a friend of mine for 30 plus years! He had a great, and kind heart and soul. Ben was a great debater, and would have been an excellent professer, attorney, or public defender. He truly knew something about everything, I nick-named him W.B. (Walking Book of) Knowledge. Ben was a colleague, and employee of mine, and always operated with the highest of ethics, he was an honest and good man. Ben will be missed by all of us that truly knew him., Ralph Samuel
