Benno Wallach Obituary

Wallach
Rabbi Benno M. Wallach passed away on his birthday, September 27, 2011 at the age of 88. Rabbi Wallach was born in Vienna, Austria to Mark and Lena Wallach.
Rabbi Wallach is survived by Madeline Harris Wallach. They were married in 1947 and enjoyed 63 happy years together. They have two wonderful children, Naomi Wallach Schwartz, married to Dr. David Schwartz, and Joshua David, married to Barbara, and grandchildren Michael David Wallach and wife Traci, and Daniel Harris Wallach, and a new great grandchild, Samuel Ross Wallach.
Rabbi Wallach served congregations in Roanoke, Virginia, Merrick, Long Island, North Miami, Florida, Orlando, Florida, and Beaumont, Texas. He was the founding rabbi of both the Jewish Congregation North in Houston, Texas and Temple Beth Tikvah in Clear Lake, Texas where he was Rabbi Emeritus.
He and Madeline were very generous to many charitable organizations and most recently to community organizations such as the public library in Seabrook, Texas and the Arts Alliance of Clear Lake, Texas.
He will be missed by all those who loved him, argued with him, and respected him.
The family held a private burial on Tuesday, September 28, 2011. Memorial donations may be made to the Houston Food Bank.
