Betty Jo Blackburn Johnson, 85, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 22, 2025. She was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, Texas on September 9, 1940. She attended St. Andrews United Methodist Church, a church where her father was a pillar of support holding every office possible, where her children were baptized and learned the love of Jesus Christ. After marrying Charles Johnson, she joined Deer Park First Baptist Church where she played the piano for her Sunday school class. She traveled extensively for decades with the Silver Set and often to Disney World, her happy place. She was an extremely talented seamstress making curtains and bedding to decorate her home and grandchildren's nurseries which included intricate needle point décor. She made bridesmaid dresses and was always altering whatever the family requested. She painted numerous oil paintings and sold them in art shows. She crocheted prolifically and gifted the most beautiful, cherished baby blankets and clothing.
She is preceded in death by her father William Ralph Blackburn, her mother Ella Mary Lobpries and first husband, Carl Christopher Hoffman. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles Lloyd Johnson Sr, daughter Stacy O'Brien, husband Tim and their son Timothy; son Gary Hoffman and his daughter, Kristin Silliman and husband Mike, his son Brandon Hoffman and wife Chloe; daughter Karen Baerenstecher and husband John and their daughters Halle and Julia; daughter Lori Crawford and her husband Carl and her daughters Taylor Helms, Emily Beasley and son Zachary Beasley; step son, Charles Johnson Jr, his wife Deborah, and their sons Tim and Jamie; step daughter Jane Buffalo and her sons Ryan and Cody. She also is survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
A private family graveside service was held on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at Deer Park Funeral Directors 336 E San Augustine in Deer Park.
