Buford Foster passed on Sunday December 10, 2023. Born September 10, 1928 in Kansas, Buford worked on the family farm while growing up. He was the oldest of three and helped raise his siblings and contributed to the financial needs of the family. He was always a provider, even as a young child, holding multiple small jobs and helping the family. During the depression the family moved from the country to Tulsa to find more work.
When he had time in high school, he was on the school wrestling team. At Central High School he met the love of his life, Donna Gaither. They married directly after graduating and enjoyed a 70-year partnership and love affair. They immediately began a family and raised four children: Billy, Diana, Paula and Don.
Buford pursued a career in accounting and landed a job with a large oil company. Over the years, he worked for British American, Gulf Oil and Chevron. He was a pioneer in computer technology as big business began to adopt these methods for accounting. He was admired and respected by everyone he worked with and developed many long-lasting relationships. He was a genuine self-made man.
Buford was a great father and husband. Whether it was fixing something around the house or helping his son restore an old car, he was 100% focused on the family. He was there for his children at every phase of their lives. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and always showed a strong interest in their pursuits. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and following the Houston Astros. His love of numbers fit well into his other passion, investing, where for many years he managed an investment club of friends and neighbors. Above all else, his favorite thing was a family gathering such as Thanksgiving or Christmas.
He was preceded in death by wife, Donna and son, Billy. He is survived by daughters Diana Coulter, Paula Foster, and son, Don Foster (wife Rachel), six grandchildren: Todd Coulter, Samantha Foster, Chris Noland, Drew Coulter, Travis Foster, Harris Foster, and three great grandchildren: Penney Lester, Louisa Foster, and Rhys Foster.
The service will be attended by family.
