I had the pleasure of being Cams Son-in-law. He was an exceptional man who provided sage advice during my military career and beyond. He served this country in innumerable ways. I think about him often.

Lois -
I was very saddened to hear of Cam's death. I had the privilege of serving with him in the Agency many years ago. He was, quite simply, the best role model, mentor, and friend that any of could have had during those years. He was always generous with his time, encouragement, and advice, and extraordinarily modest in acknowledging his achievements and contributions which were many. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

When I was first assigned to the LosAngeles DCD office, I was replacing Cam who was kind enough to introduce me to all his contacts. I noted that not only was his new assignment said with regrets by his contacts, but they showed a great deal of respect for their relationship. He became my mentor. We met a
few times in Houston and he became a contact. He was a good friend and will be missed.

This message is for Lois.
Lois, I was stunned today to learn of Cam's death. I am very sorry for you, your girls and your grandchildren.
I tried for some time online to find a way to reach you privately and to learn more about Cam's passing, but got nowhere. Sometime, when you have a bit of breathing room, I would greatly appreciate your dropping me a note, giving me your mailing address, e-mail address, or phone number so that we can communicate. You can reach me at: [email protected]; or by mail at 24035 N. Porter Creek Lane, St. Michaels, MD 21663; or by phone at 410-745-8434.
In the meantime, please accept my sincere condolences and heartfelt wishes for you and your family. I look forward to hearing from you whenever that's possible.
Very best wishes,

My deepest and respectful sympathy to Cam's family. I did not work directly with Cam during our divisional careers, but I had many good discussions with him over the years. I respected his professional contributions and remember our many conversations both professional and personal in nature. He was an excellent officer and colleague. Sincerely Al ThomannAl

Cam was a man of the highest integrity. His wit and common good sense were a stabilizing presence. He guided me through my early days in the division for which I was always grateful. He was considerate of others and earned the respect of his friends.

An Agency colleague informed me of Cam's passing this afternoon (24 February 2012). Sad news. Cam was my champion in our unit, and I owe him a great deal. It is worth noting that he helped me out of his own volition, and expected nothing in return, not once but several times. The good he did for me and others will live on, long past the end of his earthly life. There are no better or grander monuments.

I had the pleasure of serving with Cam in the CIA. He was a terrific person and a fine officer. He was known for his integrity, common sense and dry wit.

It is too late for me to thank him for the Christmas card he sent. I thought there was ample time to meet again and recall old times, old friends and share a smile. Sorry that I am late to share a smile, but not late to express my sorrow of losing Cam so early in life. He was a member of our Breakfast Club and enjoyed being with us. What was, and still is, the Breakfast Club?
Regardless of it's varied locations, the dates, the attendance, the quality of the coffee and breakfast – it was a mythical place - not created 40 years ago, but formed by the times we lived in and the quality of the people who joined.
Cam has now joined the Heavenly Breakfast Club where more than 30 of his old friends greeted him. I am sure Al Dugan is eager to hear the news. Cam, make sure they keep the coffee warm because we are all coming to join you.
