Carl W. Wilson Jr.
1933-2016
Carl W. Wilson Jr., beloved by his family, friends and colleagues, passed away on January 5, 2016 at 82 years old. Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Wilson, and his parents, Carl W. Wilson and Janie Marie Ludford Wilson. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Wilson; his son, Carl W. Wilson III (Trey); son-in-law, John Blass; daughter-in-law, Dana Dachille Wilson; grandchildren, Mason Hertweck, Ruby Hertweck, Travis Hooper, Zac Blass, Grant Blass, Marshal Wilson, Mya Wilson; and great grandson, Elias Hooper.
Carl was born in Norfolk, Virginia on September 4, 1933, to Janie and Carl Wilson. He grew up as the child of a US Navy soldier, during World War II. Carl attended Texas A&M University on scholarship, at age 16. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army and served in Germany during the US occupation of Germany, post-World War II. While serving in Germany, he was the assistant to Brigadier General McNutt. Carl wrote speeches for him and developed a very strong friendship with the General and his family.
After his service in the US Army, Carl embarked on a prolific and successful career in engineering and business. His life's work led him to work in many international locations and to integrate into various cultures throughout the world.
Carl was formerly Chairman, CEO and majority shareholder of BS&B, a 100-year old oil & gas equipment company, having established offices in Houston, Edmonton, Mexico City, London, Paris, The Hague, Singapore and Tokyo.
He was a member and former President of the Silver Fox Advisors, a Houston based group of successful executives and entrepreneurs who have shared their years of experience and advice to help hundreds of entrepreneurs, owners and executives to achieve success in both business and life.
Carl served as a long time board member and advisor to the Houston Humane Society.
He was a devoted member of St. Francis Episcopal Church, having formerly served as the Senior Warden of the Church.
Carl was also the President and Owner of Task International, and continued to perform as a business consultant, until the time of his passing.
Countless people have been influenced and touched by his authenticity, generosity and mentorship. He was respected by all who knew him, and loved by many. He lived an extraordinary life. The loss of his presence among us is tremendous, and yet he is with God.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 22, 2016, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 345 Piney Point Road, Houston, Texas 77024, with a reception following at the church. Condolences may be offered at
