Carol Slator Obituary

Carol Muckley Slator
1949-2022
Carol Muckley Slator passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday the 30th of January 2022, after a brief, COVID-free battle with pancreatic cancer. Carol was 72 years of age and was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
A native Houstonian, and the second of four children, she was born to Harold and Elizabeth Muckley, Carol was best friend and sister to Mary Ann, Carl and Jeanie. After attending college, Carol married her high school sweetheart James Mark Slator with whom she settled in Houston and built her beautiful family. Carol was a loyal and passionate mother to Aaron, Emily and Elizabeth and she loved her grandchildren (and her Frannie) fiercely.
Carol was the host of legendary Sunday night dinners at the ROCC and seldom missed drinks with her dearest friends at Carrabba's on Monday evenings. A beacon of clarity and wisdom, Carol was frequently sought after for trustworthy and reliable guidance, and was infamous for her sharp wit. Carol also had an adventurous spirit. She loved to play golf, fish, play cards and stay up late into the night drinking and debating various topics.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Harold Jacob Muckley and Elizabeth Shea Muckley; and her brother Carl Edward Muckley. She is survived by her loving children: Aaron Garth Slator, his wife Jennifer, and their children Sophie and Emma; Emily Adele Slator; Elizabeth Ann Slator, her wife Rebecca, and their children, Soleste and Caden. Carol is also survived by her sisters Mary Ann Berry and Jeanie Simmons, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was generous and insightful, vibrant and stubborn and, at least to us, she left this life far too soon. We will miss her desperately but she will live on in our hearts and in our memories and she will be in every peaceful step we take.
From Christopher Robin to all his friends in the 100 Acre Woods…"If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together…there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart…I'll always be with you."
A memorial service is to be conducted at ten o'clock in the morning on Friday, the 4th of February, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston. Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent grand foyer.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Carol's memory may be directed to the Memorial Park Conservancy, 7575 N. Picnic Ln, Houston, TX 77007 or by visiting https://www.memorialparkconservancy.org/

Sad news. Fun and outgoing gal who, with side kick Julia, gave me a famous nickname while loads of us Lee guys raided her home fridge often. RIP CMS.
