Charles Skates Obituary
1949-2016
Charles Glenn Skates of Houston, TX passed away October 27th at the age of 67. Glenn had been suffering from the subsequent effects stemming from a cancer diagnosis in 2008. Glenn, originally from LaFayette, GA was born on August 31st, 1949 and later moved to Houston, TX in 1981. Glenn went onto become the Owner and operator of Glenn Skates Inc., Skates Houston LP and Houston Siding company.
Glenn is survived by his wife Idalia Ramirez Skates, his daughter's Shawna Stephens and Ashley Skates George, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his mother Louise Skates, his siblings Gene, Danny, Mickey, Rickey Skates, Freda (Buffington) and Teresa (Holliday), and numerous other loving relatives. Glenn is preceded in death by his father, Harold Milton Skates.
Glenn was an avid sports fan of the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, UH Cougars Football and University of Georgia Bulldogs Football. Glenn was a generous hard-working man who took great pride in taking care of his family and home. He will be greatly missed by everyone he touched.
Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, October 31 at Klein Funeral Home - Cy-Fair. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 1 at 10 AM in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home – Cy-Fair.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Berryton Baptist Church, P.O. Box 455 Summerville, GA 30747.

On behalf of the Schurmann family our thoughts and prayers are with the Skates family during this time. I had the pleasure of working with Mr. Skates in new home construction for a few years. He was a firecracker and took great pride in his work and home. Mr. & Mrs. Skates and our grandparents are also neighbors, their friendship and compassion for each other went beyond measure. He will be missed.
