Charlotte Ann Bilderback, 86, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with meningitis. She was born on January 14, 1936, in Muldrow, Oklahoma, and grew up in Van Buren, Arkansas. Charlotte was a trailblazer for women in education, a celebrated professor, and a mentor of Texas teachers. Charlotte was a selfless servant to her community, a respected leader in her church, and most importantly a loving and dedicated wife to her husband Al, adoring mother to her two children, and beloved grandmother to three grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Charlotte graduated from Van Buren High School, where she was a member of the choir, a majorette in the band, and an actress in many school plays. After high school, Charlotte went on to attend Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. After earning a BS in Education, Charlotte obtained two master's degrees: an MA in Education, and an MA in Educational Administration, both from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was best known for her teaching career, which began in New Orleans, Louisiana, and continued in Kingwood, Texas, where she was a reading teacher and middle school counselor. Charlotte was most known for her tenure at Creekwood Middle School, where she served as Assistant Principal from 1986-1991 and Principal from 1991 – 2000. In addition to her contributions to education, Charlotte was recognized as a founding member of Humble Area Assistance Ministries (HAAM) with the Pillars of the Community Award in 2013. Charlotte started her volunteer work at HAAM in 1996 and went on to teach English language civics classes as a Lone Star College professor for the charity. Charlotte was proud to be a founding member of Kingwood Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, founded in 1977, where she continued to be an active leader and member of the congregation for 45 years. Charlotte's hobbies included reading, cooking, volunteer work, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Al, and was an avid supporter of ChildFund, where she sponsored children across the globe for over 30 years. To know Charlotte was to love her, and to be loved by her was the greatest gift of all. She is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Carr and brother, Billy Montgomery. Charlotte is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Al Bilderback, and by daughter Melony Bilderback-Stephens, son Damon Bilderback and wife Dayna, granddaughters Chantelle Burton and husband Corey, and Savannah Simon and husband Justin, and grandson Dillon Bilderback. Her great-grandchildren include Dominick, Blake, Kataleya, Charlotte, Emilee, Kayne, and Lillian.
Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of her life on Saturday, March 26th at 10:00am, at Kingwood Christian Church, 3910 West Lake Houston Parkway, Kingwood, Texas 77339.
