DALE JOHNSON Obituary

DALE E. JOHNSON, 85, of Houston, entered into rest on Thursday, May 6, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Dale graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving bravely in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign. Dale was a longtime member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in North Shore. He served Shell Refinery and Chemical Plant for 38 years as the manager of the Inspection Department for the Deer Park facility. Survivors include his devoted wife of over 63 years, Betty L. Johnson; children, Kathy Redford and her husband, Russell, Jr., Paula Koonce and her husband, Gene and Jenny Lewis and her husband, Don; grandchildren, Debbie Brisky, Rusty Redford, Tracy Thompson, Gene Koonce, Jr., Kristina Baum and Ashton Lewis; great grandchildren, William Blake, Lacey Brisky, Caitlyn Brisky, Madison Redford, Grayson Redford, Cody Thompson, Clay Thompson, Cameron Thompson, Breanna Manes, Crista Koonce, Mason Highsmith and Peighton Highsmith; great great grandchildren, Owen Stroud and Riley Stroud. He also leaves many extended family members and friends to cherish his memory. A loving and devoted husband, father and "Papaw"; loved by too many to count. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at San Jacinto Funeral Home. A Celebration of Dale's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 10, 2010 at Holy Trinity UMC, 13207 Orleans, Houston, TX 77015 with Rev. Meg Edmondson and Rev. W.C. Hall officiating. Interment to follow, San Jacinto Memorial Park. In lieu of usual remembrances, the family requests donations be made to Holy Trinity UMC in Dale's name.
