Dale Shaffer Obituary

DALE ALAN SHAFFER began his life with our Lord on Thursday, February 21st. Dale grew up in a small town near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from high school Dale moved his wife Jeanette and son Dale Jr. to Dallas, Texas where he attended Southern Methodist University. Upon graduation in 1972 Dale relocated his family to Houston to start his carer in the Oil Field Industry. During his twenty-eight years of work with TRW Mission, Stockham Valve and Cameron Controls, Dale touched many people and will be missed by all of his friends. In addition to countless hours of volunteer work for the Cy-Fair Sports Association, Dale cherished all the friendships he made while participating in his other outdoor hobbies such as hunting, fishing and playing softball. Dale is survived by his beautiful, loving and devoted wife of thirty-three years, Jeanette; son, Dale Jr., his wife Daphne, granddaughters Taylor and Faith; son, Jeffrey, grandson Braxton, Jeff's fiancee Shannon and her two children Chelsea and Charles. Dale is also survived by four siblings; brothers, Dennis Shaffer of Kountze, Tx. and Phil Sibyl of Palos Verdes, California; sisters, Sandra Alm of Houston, Tx and Deanna Landreth of East Camden, Arkansas. Dale was preceded in death by his father, Lamont Shaffer of Kountze, Tx and his mother Grace Sabol of Groveton, Pa. Dale, at age 51, was just beginning to enjoy a more relaxing life with his old hobbies of hunting, fishing and softball and his most precious hobby of being a grandfather, lost his battle with cancer. ...Dad, thank you for everything...we all love you and miss you. Visitation for the public will be held on Monday, February 25, from 5 till 9 pm, for friends from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral services for Dale will be held on Tuesday, February 26, at 1 pm at Klein Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Shaffer, Jeff, & Goose

I grew up as a boy living down the street from your house and the memores and lessons given to me by Dale Sr. will be with me forever.

One of the proudest days in my life was to hear Dale Sr. refer to me as one of his best friends to a family member. I will always love and miss him !

Dale was a very special man and will be missed greatly. My prayers are with the Shaffer family.

God looked around His garden

And He found an empty place.

He then looked down upon

This earth and saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you

And lifted you to rest.

God's garden must be beautiful,

He always takes the best.

He knew that you were in pain.

He knew that you would never

Get well on earth again.

So He closed your weary eyelids

And whispered, "Peace Be Thine."

He then took you up to Heaven with

Hands gentle and so kind.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

But you did not go alone.

For part of us went with you

The day God called you Home.

I met Dale about a year ago when I started working at Cameron Controls, Dale was a terific man who was always giving everything he did his all. He was a fighter and I will miss him very much.

What though Death at times steps in

And calls our Best away ?

What though sorrow seems to win,

O'er hope, a heavy sway ?

Yet hope again elastic springs,

Unconquered, though he fell;

Still buoyant are his golden wings,

Still strong to bear us well.

Manfully, fearlessly,

The day of trial bear,

For gloriously, victoriously,

Can courage quell despair ! Every glorious sight above us,

Every pleasant sight beneath,

We'll connect with those that love us, Whom we truly love till death !

I did not know Dale first-hand, but I did know that Dale was a terrific role model and mentor to my younger brother Michael Jenkins. Mike talked about Dale often. Dale kept a constant eye on Michael and Dale Jr. to insure that they were always out of harms way and not getting into any trouble. He definately had his work cut out for him with these two! During Dale's illness these two boys were able to give back to him all that he did for them. I know the trip that they all made, during Dale's illness, to the country to check on his deer stand and to do some hunting will be a memory that they will always cherish. What a great time they had that weekend! Dale will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Our hearts and prayers are with the Shaffer family and all of those who knew and loved Dale.

I knew Dale from his years at TRW Mission, and he was always a kind and thoughtful co-worker. I heard recently of his fight with cancer, and I am deeply saddened by your loss.
