David Hillman Obituary

David Reid Hillman 1962-2016 David Reid Hillman was born October 26, 1962. He fought a long hard battle with brain cancer but finally lost the fight on September 22, 2016. David let everyone know he was ready to be with Jesus, but he hated the idea of leaving behind his family and friends. David graduated from Memorial High School, where he was a cheerleader, and the University of Texas, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. Growing up, David was an Eagle Scout and loved working on anything mechanical. After graduation, he spent several years in Washington DC and Virginia where he pursued a real estate development career. He then moved to Fort Worth, where he met his wife of 25 years, Kimberly Hillman. They soon moved to Houston where Kimberly pursued a nursing career and David continued in Real Estate as a partner in SouthCorp Realty Advisors. David's real passion was working with kids. He was "Super Dave" as a Sunday school teacher for 10 years, Boy Scout leader and coach, mentoring many kids over the years. He shared the love of motocross with his sons Reid and Luke, spending every spare moment tuning and racing their bikes. Together as a family, they traveled all over the US participating as a part of motocross. He is survived by is devoted wife, Kimberly and their children Reid, Luke, and Addie; his parents, Jack and Gayle Hillman; his brother Scott Hillman, and sons, Jordan and Gabriel; his sister Susan Thomas, husband Tim, and children, Hailey and Charlie Hasenbank, Loren and Kate Thomas; his mother-in-law, Lenore Hawsey; Kimberly's twin sister, Whitney Gowan, husband Chris, and sons Brad and Jack; Kimberly's sister Lesley Krivan, husband Brian, and daughters Katelyn and Ryder, and his faithful dog, Bucky. His father-in-law, Jerry Hawsey, preceded him in death. We all will miss his sense of humor and adventure, his story telling skills and his relentless commitment to faith, family, and friends. He was a friend to all. #BLD (Be Like David) Memorial services will be at 4:00 on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Chapelwood United Methodist Church on 11140 Greenbay Street, Houston, TX 77024. I've also become convinced the feeling is mutual between us and that He has actually made note of me. Wow. I feel giddy realizing these things with more clarity. I've gotten to where I walk around constantly telling Him, "I love you God!" ~ David Hillman August 24, 2016

Just heard of the passing of Hillman now in July 18, só apologize these words are belated, but wanted give thanks for the unforgettable times spent with Hillman, he was the best. I was in his click in college and he hosted us for a great weekend in DC, grilling burgers and full picnic on the Lincoln Memorial lawn with 100k other folks July 4th, 87 Hillman always did things up right, Rehoboth beach and golf at a PGA course followed, what.. slacks required, no shorts allowed, whew this is fancy. I married and unfortunately never connected again. From reading the obit know he was full blast for his family and children. His involvement in motocross is something we could of connected with, I don't recall him even riding a moped in college, racing a 450F in his late 40's wow, could do anything he put his mind to. Amazing ability to connect with people in all walks of life. His spirituality and connection to God was very apparent in college and from what I read he was fulfilled and is at peace.

To the Hillman family, always our friends, formerly our neighbors. We were distraught to read of David's passing in the Houston Chronicle but we are rejoicing in knowing he's has everlasting life.

What a guy, so great to be around David while both our families were raising our young children. May God bless the Hillman family on the rest of your life journey and know you will all be in The Willett Family's hearts.

He worked in my office at Memorial High School as a student assistant, and it was always a pleasure to work with him...one of my best SA's! It sounds like David had a wonderful life of loving & giving to others. RIP, sweet man.

David was a wonderful person who was a joy to be around and brought much laughter and wit to his work and friendships. I'll miss him dearly. My deepest sympathies to you, Kimberly, and the kids, Reid, Luke and Addie. Here are a few lines from an Annie Bronte poem titled "Farewell", which I hope give you some comfort in this difficult time:

Farewell to thee! But not farewell
To all my fondest thoughts of thee;
Within my heart they still shall dwell,
And they shall cheer and comfort me.
O, Beautiful, and full of Grace!
I pray we meet again one day.

May God bless your family. Steve

My deepest condolences to the Hillman family. David blessed this world as one amazing husband, father, teacher, friend and as an example of what it means to have true unceasing faith in God. His example inspired us all and we are better for having known him. May we all be so strong when our time comes to look to Christ and to be ready when he calls. He was a true inspiration.
