DAVID KERSH Obituary

DAVID VESTER KERSH JR. died October 3rd, 2009 at age 87. Born April 4th, 1922, to David V. Kersh Sr. and Daisy RosaliaWaxler. Survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Arnold Kersh; three children; David V. Kersh III, and wife Lori, Carolyn E. Kersh and Kathryn E. Kersh; four grandchildren, Aaron and Arielle Boggess and Chelsey and Danae Kersh; brothers, Edwin and Jay Dean Kersh; sisters, Karlene Askins and Judy Covert; and other relatives. Born in Humble, Texas, graduate of Charles Bender Senior High School Class of 1939. He joined the U.S. Army in 1940 playing the bass horn for the 69th Coast Artillery Band at Ft. Crockett, Galveston. He operated radar in San Diego in 1941. He also saw service in Lae, New Guinea and Layle, Phillippines as an anti-aircraft gunner in Battery B 211th AA. Graduate of the University of Houston in 1949. Longtime employee of the Continental Insurance Co., retired in 1982. He held a private pilot's license for a number of years. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Rosewood Funeral Home, 2602 S. Houston Ave., Humble, Tx. With services following at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Interment to follow at RosewoodMemorial Park.
