David McNally Obituary

DAVID JAMES MCNALLY, born May 11, 1947 peacefully departed this earth Sunday, February 23, 2003. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and was employed by Sprint for 19 years. David was preceded in death by his parents and brother and is survived by daughters: Kathryn and Natalie McNally, Sister; Virginia Olsen and husband Peter, Sister-in-law: Shirley Pearlman; nieces: Barbara Marinaro, Kate and Melanie Olsen; and nephew: John McNally. Family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, March 2, 2003 at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston. Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2003 in the Earthman Resthaven Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Houston Division, P.O. Box 20448, Houston, Texas 77225-0448.

Satsuma, to me is a community, and we lost one of its honored citizens. David was one of us. We all shared our political, social and personal thoughts every day. David's favorite subject was Kathryn and Natalie. He was so proud of both of them. We watched them grow up as they were our own. David made a difference in everyone's life he touched. David will always be in my thoughts and in the thoughts of all who knew him.

David McNally was my uncle and my godfather. My father,the late John Charles McNally,was David's older brother. I didn't get to see uncle David very often since he moved to Texas. I am very grateful that uncle David, Kathryn, and Natalie came to New Jersey this past September and I got to spend some quality time with him for the last time. He was a great man and will be missed dearly. I have very fond memories of uncle David when I was a little girl visiting grandma and Pompomps house in Ridgefield Park almost every Sunday. Dave was my brother-in-law, but was more like the brother I never had, as we have known each other since high school.His sense of humor and devotion to his daughters was unsurpassed.

Dave, I will miss you dearly and those long talks we would have on the telephone

David McNally was my uncle. Although I saw him only a few times in my life, I will remember him as always cheerful, kind and joking. We kept in contact through emails, especially this past year while I was travelling, and I loved the way he would make even the most everyday, ordinary news and tidbits funny and exciting.

David loved his family and was very thoughtful, he is missed.

I worked alongside David for several years here at Sprint. His superior intellect, wit and sense of humor were unsurpassed. He was very proud of his lovely daughters, and showed them much love. May he rest in peace.

David was my nephew - I am the brother of his mother - Elise Aubert McNally. When I think of David, I recall a picture taken in 1952 of 5 children (brothers, sisters, cousins) lined up in order of descending height - Johnny, Ginny, Donald, David and Pat. Those were happy times.

David has been a loving father, dedicated to his daughters - Kathryn and Natalie - proud and supportive of Kathryn's achievements and concerned that Natalie will best take advantage of her oportunities.

David, we love you - You will be missed.
