David Tyler Obituary

David Blair Tyler
1966-2018
David Blair Tyler, loving father of Hannah, Michael and Andrew, passed away on August 30, 2018, at the age of 52. David, the son of the late J.B. "Bud" Tyler and Artela Bullock Tyler, was born April 7, 1966, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. As a child David lived on Guam and in Japan, Hawaii, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, but spent most of his adolescence in Slidell, Louisiana, graduating from Slidell High School in 1984. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and marketing along with a Master of Business Administration in finance from the University of Houston.
David was a successful commercial real estate executive and property manager for twenty years in the Houston area with Hines, Moody Rambin Interests, Jones Lang LaSalle and most recently was a General Manager for Transwestern. He often shared fond memories of colleagues and friends, and found opportunities to provide mentorship especially rewarding.
David was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who will be missed for his delightful wit, his warmth and kindness, and his extraordinary empathy. His high energy and charismatic personality were infectious, and his ability to find humor in any situation and to make us laugh, made David someone everyone wanted to be around. David had a beautiful and generous heart, ready to freely give to anyone in need of love and compassion.
Much to the dismay of opposing teams, David was a gifted and natural athlete and a passionate team mate who quickly mastered most any sport, excelling in soccer, basketball, track, and golf. He derived great joy from watching his children play sports, but his greatest joy in life was spending time with them and simply being their dad.
In addition to his children in Houston, Texas, David is survived by brothers Joel Tyler of Rogers, Arkansas, and Dennis (Karen) Tyler of Houston, sisters Laurel Tyler of Annapolis, Maryland, and Tammy King Jones (Terry) of Mayflower, Arkansas, uncle James Bullock (Dottie) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and uncle Dennis Tyler (Becky) of Springdale, Arkansas. Surviving him also are his beloved nieces Courtney (Ryan) and Ali, nephews Joel and Luke, great niece and nephew, five cousins, Bean family in-laws, and countless friends, all of whom he loved very much. Besides his parents, who strongly influenced his faith in God, David was predeceased by two precious aunts, Marilyn Bullock King (Jimmy) and Patricia Tyler Johnson (Charlie), along with numerous much-adored pets.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations in memory of David Tyler to support The Mastocytosis Center Research and Education Fund at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Memorial gifts can be made online at www.bwhgiving.org or checks can be made to Brigham and Women's Hospital with in memory of David Tyler in the memo line and sent to: Brigham and Women's Hospital, Development Office, 116 Huntington Avenue, 3rd floor, Boston, MA 02116.
A memorial service in celebration of David will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 8, in the Burguieres Family Chapel of the Sacred Heart at Duchesne Academy, 10202 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.

My condolences to David's family and friends. He was a Slidell High School classmate of mine and I have so many wonderful and funny memories of him. He was simply a great guy who you just loved to be around. I know he will be greatly missed but I hope you find comfort in knowing that he was loved by so many people. May God's peace be with all of you.
