Hi Derrick. Happy early birthday!!! It's been a moment since I posted but my mother and brother have gained their wings and joined you (Nov 2017 and Feb 2019). I thought about you as tomorrow would've been another earthly birthday for you. I know that life has it challenges but I am glad to at least be at peace with knowing that we all have an eternal resting place after this life on earth and we shall dance together again. As my life has moved on this day and this month is such a reminder of you.no matter how much time has passed and how much my life has changed you were a part of my life that I grew and I enjoyed. We had plans to live our lives forever but God had a greater plan for you. I thank God for putting you in my life and also my kids life. It's the month that you and I shared - our birthdays (you the 28th and I the 25th) and the anniversary month of your death. When I think about you, we were so young. I get sad thinking that you are not here. I know that heaven has you and I can smile. I post not for disrespect to anyone else but because you and I were special at one point in our life... young adults. I remember like yesterday the first day we met...MacGregor Park. Posting makes me think about the choice we made, & that saddens me @ this moment. Hopefully, I'll see you in my next life. I'm getting sad.?

I am in totally disbelief that Derrick is gone. I was facebooking old friends and a Huff named popped up and I immediately thought about Derrick. My grandparents live in Settegast and I use to pass the house every once in a while and see him with the red BMW. With the freeways and construction going on I do not travel that way anymore. However, I said that I am off for the holidays and I am going to make the time to stop by and say hello. Derrick and I attended class together at TSU. I remember when he hurt his shoulder and had to wear the sling for a while. He still insisted on coming to class. I will never forget when he got the BMW. He let me drive it to get him something to eat at Frenchy's because he needed to eat and take some meds, but his arm was hurting. He talked me through the entire time making sure I switched gears correctly. To Derrick's mom,brother Avery,cousin Rita and her mom I am so sorry for your lost.

Hello! It has been almost 3 yrs and it seems like yesterday that we lost a GREAT man. Derrick was one of a kind and to this day I think about some of the things that Derrick told me. I miss him very much.

As it has been nearly 3 yrs since the loss of a Great Man he still has been and will be missed. As he made a big impact in my childrens life as a Father they will never forget what he instilled in him.Courage, love, discipline etc.My son still cries his self to sleep just thinking about him and that means alot.As I know its extremely hard for his girls as well all we can do is pray and let them know he is smiling from heaven.

I just recently learned of Derrick's passing. I'm lost for words due to unexpected emotions, However, I will say that Derrick was a very kind & genuine guy that everyone loved. Ms. Huff, I know that he is okay beacause of God's love. I'm truely sorry for you, his father & the family's lost. God has a way of taking those we love for a greater purpose. He'll be rememered well.

I just recently learned of Derrick's passing at Sterling's 20 year class reunion. Derrick was our classmate for a number of years and we all are saddened to hear this news. We want to render our condolences to the Huff family, and to let you know you are in our prayers.
