Donald Ray Hambrick

1937 - 2013

Donald Ray Hambrick 76, entered eternal rest on October 30, 2013, surrounded by his family. He bravely fought advanced cancer. Donald was born in Malakoff Texas to John and Ruth Hambrick on March 18, 1937. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard, including duty in the-then remote Palawan Islands, Philippines from 1954 to 1958. While in-service he met and married the love of his life, Faith Weathers. They married June 12, 1956. He graduated from the University of Texas- Arlington with a BA in History in 1962. He then began his career in insurance with Aetna in 1962 and remained an insurance agent till his retirement. Donald enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking for which he exhibited great skill, sports, gardening, politics and was an avid reader. Donald was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother John Hambrick Jr., and nephew Gary Heins. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Faith Hambrick, two sons and their wives, Richard and Ana Hambrick and Michael and Shawney Hambrick, 5 grandchildren Christopher, Carlee, Kyle, Caleb and Emma Hambrick, Sister Dorothy Stence, nephew and niece Steven and Susan Heins. Brothers and sister-in-laws Marjorie and Kenneth Wright, Virginia and Daniel Naquin and Henry Weathers. Donald was a great husband, father and man. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those that had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit will live on through our shared stories and laughter that will last forever. He was a man of quiet compassion.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Klein Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
