To the family of Douglas and Margaret Marshall:
There are no words to express our sorrow for the death of our dear friend Douglas. As we live in a farm with no access to internet, we did not have any news of his departure. Me and my family will never forget him as we have not forgotten Margaret.
Waht he did for the breading of arabian horses in our country, Chile, will remain and continue for years to come. The legacy of Gleannloch is present in our stud and we hope some day to have another Morafic.
Our fondest regards, Fernando & Gloria Saenz and sons.

I will always be grateful to Mr. Marshall for the opportunities he gave me. He was a generous man. He cared a great deal about his friends and family. He and Mrs. Marshall loved to get in those old Mercedes and go driving through the pastures to look at the horses. He was passionate about the Arabian Horse and those that were associated with it. I know in his Heaven, Mr. & Mrs. Marshall are driving through the pastures looking at *Morafic and his get. We will miss you!

My Condolences to Family and Friends of this wonderful person. I wrote a letter to Mr Marshall, as a young person, telling him my story of seeing Morafic's tiny picture in a magazine and I grew up and bought an Ibn Morafic son, who is still in my backyard at 29.
He was very inspiring and supportive.. I will never forget and I look at reminders everyday of what he accomplished.

Few, if any, will ever know a more genuine person than Doug Marshall. No doubt, the Arabian horse, and the people of its origin, as well as all others who became connected with Mr. Marshall and his fine Arabian horses, will lament the passing of this great man. I know we will.

My parents, Jarrell and Judith McCracken, my husband, and myself, had great respect for the Marshalls. We are saddened by Doug's passing and we know that we were enriched by his presence in our lives. I personally appreciated the time Doug was willing to spend with me talking about horses and the Middle East, and I will treasure that memory. We all send our condolences to the Marshall family.

We have always felt priviliged to call Doug Marshall a friend and a mentor. Our Arabian horse breeding programme here at Abbasiyah carries yet today the bloodlines of many top Gleannloch bred horses. We will always smile when we remember you Doug and we will always have fond memories of the wonderful days we enjoyed together in Cairo.
Our heartfelt condolances to all of Mr. Marshall's family.

Douglas and Margaret were some of the first people we were introduced to in the Arabain horses. Both Henry and I feel fortunate to have met them. They were ever gracious and always fun. It was difficult to lose Margaret so early but the loss of Douglas is a very sad day indeed. Christie and Henry Metz

Mr Marshall, and his incomparable Gleannloch Farms, achieved a status that can only be labeled “Iconic”. He was the right man in the right time and, though he is gone, his accomplishments will forever be Legend.

The Egyptian Arabian world owes a debt of gratitude to Douglas B. Marshall. Through his vision, The Pyramid Society was founded and continues to flourish, due in large measure, to the example of his leaderwship. The name Marshall and Gleannloch Farms were synonymous with integrity, beautiful, athletic horses as well as respect and leadership. The term "a mighty oak has fallen" could not be more fitting in describing this loss to the Arabian world. It is comforting, however, to know his legacy continues in many of the finest Egyptian Arabian breeding programs around the world.

It was a privilige and a joy to know Doug Marshall; kind, generous, wonderful sense of humor, dedicated to what he believed in; adventurous of spirit, lover of nature, and devoted to Arabian horses, his contribution to the Arabian horse world is immeasurable. That which we hold in memory remains ours, unchanged forever. We will miss him. Heaven has gained another star.

The heritage of Douglas B. Marshall will live on in numerous Straight Egyptian Horses tracing back to his breeding program esp. through his favourite stallion "Morafic", who in fact was bred by the EAO (Egyptian Agricultural Organization). Without the (financial) contributions and efforts of Doug Marshall most of the foundation stock for modern Straight Egyptian bred Arabian Horses would not have left Egypt and the whole breed might not have developed in what it is today. Every SE breeder around the world will keep this in kind remembrance.
My condolences to his family

How sad to hear of his passing, but what a legacy he leaves behind! Douglas Marshall made many, many positive contributions to the world he lived in, but the Egyptian Arabian horse world was, in large part, shaped by the horses he bought and bred. My condolences to all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Marshall and his wife did outstanding things for the Egyptian Arabian world. Their contribution to the industry is near impossible to match. Mr. Marshall's efforts made it possible for the rest of us to enjoy the Egyptian Arabians. Even though Mr. Marshall has now passed, he will definitely not be forgotten! Thank you Mr. Marshall! You will be deeply missed.
