Ed Slotboom Obituary

Ed Slotboom
04/02/1937 - 11/07/2025
Eduard Mattheus Slotboom passed away at home on November 7, 2025, in Houston at the age of 88.
Ed was born on April 2, 1937, in Pangkalan Brandan, Indonesia, to Dutch parents who were on location for Royal Dutch Shell. He spent three childhood years in a Japanese internment camp during World War 2. All family members survived and returned to the Netherlands after the war.
In 1963 Ed received a masters degree from Delft University and married Vera Irene Bremmer. He worked for the London office of Geophysical Service Inc. (GSI) from 1963 to 1966, assigned to seismic data acquisition in Libya. In 1966 he started a position with Chevron Geosciences in Houston, soon welcoming two sons born and raised in Houston. After field assignments and two years in Calgary, Ed returned to Houston and was a dedicated youth soccer coach when the boys were young. He was an enthusiastic and competitive tennis player.
Ed retired from Chevron after a 27-year career and pursued his passion for collecting paintings, antique clocks and Persian rugs. He was a supporter of animal welfare charities, rescuing countless stray dogs and cats, and adopting too many!
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and older brothers Robert and Rudolph. He is survived by wife Vera, son Oscar "Erik", son Walter and wife Sharon and grandchildren Hayley and Evan. Per Ed's request, there will not be a service.
