Emilio Medina Obituary

EMILIO (TATI) PRADO MEDINA JR., 67, passed away on January 18, 2003. He was born on October 24, 1935 in Houston, TX and grew up in Baytown, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio Medina Sr., Esperanza Medina of Baytown, TX and Grandmother, Felicitas Prado. He is survived by his children: James Medina, wife Terri and 3 grandchildren: Jacob Elijah, Cassie Celine and Marissa Caitlyn of Deer Park, TX; Mario Medina of Sugar Land, TX; and Hope Medina of Burbank, CA. He also leaves behind his Aunt, Mary Rios; his former wife, Dolores Medina; 3 brothers: Roger Medina, wife Velia; Michael Medina; Robert Medina; 4 sisters: Sally Cortez, husband Paul; Mary Alice Lopez, husband Regino; Josephine Quiroga; and Sandra Salinas, husband Luciano; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Emilio retired as a union glazier from Binswanger Glass Company after 20 years service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served two years in Korea. Emilio was one of a kind and had an amazing life!! Life was a thrill! The things he did and saw were awesome. Most people can only dream about having the life he had. Many a friend had their life on the line and saw a man step forward to help when it mattered most. He saved two young girls swimming in Galveston when a rip tide took them out too far. He also saved a man from choking in a restaurant and another time, he saved a man's life by giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He acted when it mattered most. He was fearless and ferocious!! Many a day was spent telling the kids "put your hands up, aim your blows! Fear no man! And always, always ATTACK WITH VIGOR." He loved to fish and enjoyed telling stories of his youth when how "tough you were" was measured by how well you could defend yourself. He loved his family and friends and believed in loyalty. He had "undying" love for his Grandma, Mother, Father and his dogs. The world is a little dimmer now... the party is over for one fine man on this earth. Family will receive friends 5 - 6 PM with Rosary service at 7 PM on Thursday, January 23, at Forest Park East. Funeral services and interment will be at 12:30 PM on Friday, January 24, at Forest Park East, Webster, TX 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598 (281) 332-3111.
