1936-2018
passed away unexpectedly in his sleep, in his home on November 19, 2018 in Missouri City, Texas at the age of 82. Eric was born on July 9, 1936 in Galveston, TX to Erich and Irma Reiner. He is preceded in death by his parents, Erich Beiner Reiner and Irma Eichenberg Reiner and his daughter, Lisa Reiner Altenbern. Papa Doc is survived by his wife, Jayne Reiner, of 59 years; brother, Carl Reiner and wife Gail, of Springfield, Massachusetts; son, Eric B. Reiner, III and wife Rena, of Missouri City, TX. He loved his grandchildren, Stephanie Altenbern, Meghan Reiner, Eric B. "Buddy" Reiner, IV, Tiffanie Altenbern and Charlotte Reiner. He also leaves behind his beloved niece, Allison and nephew, David, and their families. Papa Doc graduated from Kansas University in 1958 with a degree in medicine and went to UTMB for his residency and internship. He married Jayne, his college sweetheart in 1959. Papa Doc began working for MacGreggor Medical Clinic as a primary care physician in 1963 and finished he career with Synergy Clinic, as an internal medical physician until 2016. Papa Doc loved going hunting and fishing and enjoyed his trips fishing in Alaska with his grandchildren. Eric and Jayne enjoyed their travels throughout the years, with many cruises and vacations all over the world. His favorite trips would be Alaska and Colorado, where he enjoyed taking his children, and later his grandchildren, to share the outdoors of fishing. A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, November 23, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in The Morrow Chapel at The Settegast-Kopf Co. @ Sugar Creek. Cantor, Vadim Tunitsky will officiate the ceremony.
