Felipe Waterwall Obituary
10/20/1936 - 09/23/2024
On Monday, September 23, 2024, the Waterwall family lost a beloved brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Felipe recently moved back to Texas from Mt. Vernon, Washington, where he lived for over 40 years with his wife Jan until her passing. We thank God for the remaining time of his life that our family was able to spend with him.
Felipe Waterwall Jr. had many accomplishments. He was a basketball star at Austin High School earning a college scholarship to St. Edwards University. After graduation, he accepted a position at Holy Cross High School in San Antonio. As a teacher and coach, he was an inspirational leader instilling teamwork that inspired many of his students to accomplish things like being elected to Congress and holding key positions throughout the community.
After a few years, he accepted a position at USAA where he became a financial advisor. Always the athlete, while working at USAA, he developed a passion for playing tennis. He enjoyed tennis so much that he won many of the tennis tournaments. At 80, he was even asked if he would be an assistant tennis coach at a local community college. Teaching and coaching were inherent to everything he did.
He is survived by his sister Marcela Judd, his brothers Daniel and Edward, his children Felipe, Marcie, Phyliss, and Kathleen, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He will be missed dearly. We believe he is up in heaven enjoying lots of fruitcake with his loved ones.
